Phony E-mails
Con Artists are attempting to send bogus e-mail messages that use legitimate materials, such as credit union logos or graphics in an attempt to trick you into providing personal financial details to them, such as account numbers, passwords, and Social Security numbers. Some e-mail messages may include links to sites that appear to be real but are not.
Take Precautions
Never respond to an unsolicited e-mail that asks for personal financial information.
Report anything suspicious to the proper authorities.
Contact the alleged sending institution using a telephone number that you know to be legitimate to find out if it is seeking such information, and respond accordingly.
Guard your account numbers!
Don't be afraid to question things that don't seem right, or seem to good to be true.
While the opportunities opened up by the Internet have done wonders for on-line users, the World Wide Web has also made them susceptible to fraudulent schemes of clever, predatory scammers. Please use every precaution to keep yourself from becoming a victim of these unscrupulous individuals.
