Non-Maine residents who utilize a Shared Branch in Maine must comply with IDCheck requirements.
The Shared Branch network has added new ID-proofing security when accessing your account in person. This new fraud-prevention measure allows the Shared Branch location to make certain it’s YOU trying to access your account, not a fraudster. Starting May 1, 2025, when you bank at any Shared Branching location, tellers must identify members with out-of-state IDs through a QR code and one-time passcode multifactor verification. This additional layer of authentication will be used for cash or check withdrawals using out-of-state IDs.
How IDCheck Works
Prior to or upon arrival at a Shared Branch location, visit https://verify.coop.org and follow these steps:
Enter your credit union’s name or choose from the dropdown list.
Enter your Member Number and the last 4 digits of your Social Security Number.
Upload a photo of the front of your government-issued ID.*
Upload a photo of the back of your government-issued ID.
Your ID is securely stored and can be reused for future transactions.
Take a selfie for identity verification.
Your selfie is securely stored for future use.
Receive a unique verification code (valid for 20 minutes).
Present this verification code to the teller to proceed with your transaction as normal.
Note:
IDCheck does NOT support military IDs due to a federal regulation that does not allow federal IDs to be copied/photographed.
*Members will need a non-expired government ID, such as a driver’s license, to conduct the transaction. They may also want to have their account number and last four digits of their Social Security number. This data is encrypted in the secure application.
